Activated[FX] (Activateyourimage, Inc.) is a Motion Graphics and design house located in sunny Brooklyn, NY. We have a loyal following of truly awesome clients who come to us for high-end 3D and After Effects work. We strive to keep it fun, hands-on, one-on-one and with strict attention to every detail. All our work is done in-house, on time and within budget.

We love to design and animate Show Logos, Theatrical Titles, Net ID's, Promo Stunts and full Graphic "Toolkits" for on-air broadcasts. We also do plenty of less glamorous work like Rotoscoping, Image Tracking and Replacement, Green-screen, Compositing, light Color Grading and other Visual FX.

We are all Mac, all the time, and create using the Adobe CC Suite - After effects, Photoshop and Illustrator, as well as Cinema 4D (C4D).

Founder/Principal, JOHN ERIC ALEXANDER, grew up in a very creative environment. His mom is a successful designer and calligrapher who recently retired from her position as Senior Designer at Penguin-Putnam Books for Young Readers. His dad, Sam Alexander, was a creative force in the world of design for film and TV. Founder of Zeplin Productions and Sam Alexander Productions, he is credited as a pioneer of the new visual medium he affectionately called “Motion Graphics” back in the early 1970's.

John graduated from Parsons School of Design in 1983 with a BFA in Communication Design, then literally fell into a hugely successful career scoring music for theatrical trailers and Network TV. After scoring a teaser for the film, "Power", starring Richard Gere, Mr. Alexander quickly ascended to 1st call status, becoming well-known in Hollywood for his driving electro-rock-orchestral trailer scores. From 1986-2002, John scored over 200 feature film trailers, including “The Fly”, “Lethal Weapon 1, 2, 3 and 4”, “Die Hard 1, 2 and 3”, "The Mosquito Coast", "A Few Good Men", “Broken Arrow, “Seven” and “The Silence of the Lambs”, as well as hundreds of Network Themes for CNBC, A&E, The Bio Channel and HBO.

By the late 1990’s, the music business had changed – time and money were tight, and original scores were being replaced by pre-existing "library" music and scores that the film studios already owned. With the call for original trailer music on the decline, Mr. Alexander was forced to make a career decision. Fortunately, his dad’s Motion Graphic business was busy, and John started picking up freelance projects – learning After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator and Cinema 4D along the way.

Fast forward 15 years, and John has become a seasoned Motion Graphic designer in his own right, credited with title and design work for hundreds of projects, for clients including: Warner Bros., 20th Century Fox, Miramax, A&E, FOX Sports, ESPN, The Bio Channel, The History Channel, USA, Fox Reality, AMC Networks, SPEED, TLC, The Sportsman Channel and FUEL.

When he's not chained to his Mac workstation, John enjoys spending time with his two sons, Mickey - Senior Creative Director/Producer at Man Made Music/NY, and Joshua - an iOS Software Designer. John also enjoys photography, cooking, physical fitness, motorcycles and exploring Brooklyn Heights and DUMBO.

***Note that I get many requests for the original recordings of my trailer scores, particularly for Lethal Weapon and Die Hard. Unfortunately, while I retain all rights to the musical scores, I am unable distribute recordings to the public, even if it’s just for “personal use”.

I love my fans and appreciate your enthusiasm, but please do not email with requests for the original recordings unless you are planning to use the music in a legitimate production and are able to negotiate a contract for use of the music. Thanks!!
